I do believe last time we met I was spinning for the Tour de Fleece. I did spin every day of the Tour. I accomplished my personal goals. I got some awesome fiber out of it, too.
Over 600 yards of light fingering weight alpaca, spun on a spindle and plied on the wheel because I'm not that masochistic. And about 320 yards of single ply flax, from Challenge Day. (The flax was all spun in one evening)
Still knitting socks and finished both July pair from the Cookie A knitalong on Ravelry. The striped pair of Hedera will be a gift (not sure yet for who) ...
and the Rick socks are mine, all mine. In fact, I'm wearing them tomorrow.
I did something really wrong when I switched from leg to heel and had to drastically rework the stitches to get to the right place in the foot chart so they're a long way from perfect but I love 'em anyway, even if the one ankle is a little extra-twisty.
Finished the handspun baby sweater.
WAY too cute. And started another one.
The second one is actually almost done-I'm at the end of one sleeve and once I do the other sleeve and block, that's it. The pattern is Baby Belle from Cosy at Cosymakes. She was looking for people to knit them from handspun for a photo shoot and I volunteered. It's a super-cute pattern and is available on her website. Hopefully I'll have photos that show the actual sweater pretty soon.
Just started a pair of Fan Lace socks from the Charlene Schurch book, Sensational Knitted Socks. It's become basically a stitch pattern library for me lately but I've been wanting to do these for a while. When I got this yarn, I knew it was perfect. The yarn is Tausendschön and it's imported from Germany. Nice stuff. Great stitch definition and soft to knit. Very good colors too. Probably not as nice as the fabled Wollmeise, but certainly good enough for a terrific pair of socks.
And that's about it in crafting. I am not sure if I'm going to do the Cookie A socks this month; I think I need a break from those for a while and I'm craving some toe-up action. But we shall see, they picked a fabulous pattern this month.
Biddy the Former Basement Cat was freaking out at the window on Sunday afternoon. When I went to see what the ruckus was, I saw this.
A caterpillar must have crawled up in between the window panes and hatched out into a butterfly, only to find him or herself trapped.
Fortunately, the window is very easy to open to get to between the double panes-it's an old fashioned leaky grotty window and I guess in this case it was a good thing.
What a beauty, huh?
Looked like one of it's little tails was a bit damaged but it was flying fine, once I convinced it to skedaddle.
Gorgeous creature.
Hopefully tomorrow we'll find out of PA state employees are going to get paid any time soon. I am so angry about THAT whole situation that I can't even get started on it.
I've had any number of very thinky post ideas rattling around in my head but between the BSOD, summertime lassitude, a bad cold that's had me down for the past week, and a general lack of interest in sitting at the computer all day at work (for no pay) then again at home has kept me AFK as we used to say back in the day. This too, I'm sure, shall pass.
